The devastating collapse of the Rana Plaza building in Bangladesh earlier this year resulted in the deaths of hundreds of garment workers. These workers often toil for long hours in dangerous conditions in exchange for low wages.
To garner support for Bangladesh's garment workers, the Canadian Union of Public Employees, the Maquila Solidarity Network, and the Public Service Alliance of Canada Social Justice Fund have invited Kalpona Akter, Executive Director of the Bangladesh Centre for Worker Solidarity to tour Canada from November 24 to December 6, 2013. Akter will be visiting Vancouver, Ottawa, Québec City, Montréal, and Toronto. For more information, visit the CUPE website: http://cupe.ca/global-justice/canada-wide-tour-bolster-support.
